Ron Cocking (Tap)

As Founder of Steponit.tv and over 30 years of experience teaching Tap, Ron Cocking knows how challenging it is to be creative. He and his wife have owned and operated a successful dance studio in Southern California for the last 34 years. Their staff of nine teaches Acting, Ballet, Vocal, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Ballroom. Ron started performing professionally at age 15 with The San Bernardino Civic Light Opera in California and continued working for that organization for over 20 years with director/choreographers Gene Bayliss, Jon Engstrom, Dan Mojica, Rikki Lugo and Carl Jablonski among others.

He was the assistant director/choreographer of Jack Bunch for several productions including Singin’ In The Rain, Little Me and Gypsy starring Jo Anne Worley. Ron also created choreography for Leslie Uggams for the pre-broadway production of Sweet Pea, the life story of jazz singer Josephine Baker. He is a member of the Los Angeles Local 47 musicians union and has played drums in night clubs, recording sessions and musical comedy pit orchestras for many years. A high point in his teaching career was when he performed the role of Andy Lee in 42nd Street, choreographed by Jon Engstrom, in which six of his tap students were also featured. Ron was featured in Anything Goes, choreographed by Carl Jablonski, starring Leslie Uggams. Ron has presented dance instructors innovative lessons via StepOnIt.tv for over 2 years.
